30 Minutes in the Life of Us | September 2013

September 23, 2013  •  12 Comments

Life can be beautiful. And Life can be mundane.

I guess finding beauty in the mundane is what lifestyle photographers do, well it's what I love to do anyway.

In an effort to be as honest as possible I took 30 minutes of photos of something completely and utterly ordinary. A post school and work 30 minutes of down time. Me, The munchkin and the cat.

Polly... she chooses to sleep in the sun. On my desk in front of the window. She does this most of the day. It's tough being a cat, truly!

Sugarlump chooses to play Mario Kart in my bedroom. And she's getting pretty good at it!

She bet me this week and she showed off over this fact a LOT, maybe I should take the wii away ;)

I choose to alternate between staring at the tv and my phone. Drinking tea obviously (I drink tea about 90% of the time anyway). Preheating the oven because I'm starving whenever I get home. Working over lunch means I miss it everyday. So I'm always hungry. Running a load of washing, again I seem to do that 90% of the time. I swear you add one child to your home and 2 tones of laundry arrives with it.

Most importantly feet UP! Always up, I work on my feet. They ache, I'm getting old before my time.

And then it's back to being 'Us'. Dinner together, long talks about our day. The bedtime routine. Daddy arriving home.

But for a half hour or so we just wind down from the hustle and bustle. We don't feel guilty, we waste some time but that'sokay. Wasting time is necessary, it gets us through.

I absolutely love what you chose to do here. I think the ordinary moments are those we will most want to remember. Good for you for choosing to document them.

These are just wonderful.
